2014 Chardonnay Roskamp Vineyard
The vineyard site is a steep north facing slope of the Snipes Mountain ridgetop in the heart of the Yakima Valley. The north facing aspect protects the vines from the prevailing southwesterly winds and the elevation 300 feet above the surrounding valley protects from frost in the spring and fall as well as the threat of winter damage. The vineyard is a field blend of Dijon clones 76 and 96.
On the nose: Grilled pineapple, Meyer lemon, creamy and toasty, fresh baked bread, complex and integrated. On the palate: complex, baked peaches and cream, soft with balancing acidity, lingering creamy toasty finish. This wine pairs well with fresh baked halibut, cedar plank salmon and baklava.
